Former Royal Mail HR chief to head up Recruitment and Employment Confederation

Former Royal Mail HR director Kevin Green has been appointed chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).

The REC is the trade body that represents the recruitment industry with a membership made up of more than 8,000 recruitment agencies and businesses.

Green joins the REC after four and a half years at Royal Mail, where he headed up HR in its high-profile letters division. He replaces Helen Reynolds who has been acting chief executive since Marcia Roberts was forced to step down a year ago because of ill-health.

Green said: "It is a wonderful opportunity to be joining such a successful organisation as the REC at a particularly challenging time for the recruitment industry with so much new legislation currently under scrutiny, especially on issues such as temporary workers."

Angela Masters, REC's chairman of the board, said: "Though it has taken us a long time to arrive at announcing the new CEO, we believe that Kevin is the right person for this crucial role. With his background in HR and business development, he will certainly bring a new dynamic to the way in which the REC enhances its service to members."

Green begins his new post on 2 June, the first day of the REC-run National Temporary Workers Week.
