More than 100,000 staff at The Royal Bank of Scotland Group were rewarded with a 10% profit share worth an average of £2,100 each when the company announced its 2004 Annual results.

This is the seventh successive year that employees have shared in the success of the RBS Group, amounting to a total of £214m in 2004 and close to £1bn over the seven years.

RBS group HR director, Neil Roden, said: “Our performance reflects the strength and capabilities of the people we employ.

"We make a concerted effort to ensure we have the right people in the right roles at the right stage in their development.

“The commitment they have all made over the last 12 months will enable them to receive this profit share bonus for the seventh successive year at the maximum level of 10% of salary,” he said.
