Employees at outsourcing company Fujitsu voted last week to strike over pay concerns.
The Department for Work and Pensions, the Home Office and HM Revenue & Customs have all outsourced part of their IT work to Fujitsu. Employees at the supplier's Manchester office voted to take a one-day strike before 19 December.
About two-thirds of 309 eligible members of trade union Amicus voted on whether to strike, with 73% coming out in support of the move, reports Personnel Today's sister title Computer Weekly.
Ian Allinson, senior Amicus representative at the site, said: "Fujitsu has imposed different pay deals on us. It announced purely individual pay rises from a pot of 3%, but for some jobs, the pay rises went down."
Fujitsu refused to comment.
