MPs cross swords with BA over decision to ban visible religious symbols

Almost 100 MPs are protesting against the British Airways (BA) decision to ban employees from wearing visible religious symbols.

The protesters – including 30 Labour MPs, 37 Conservatives, 16 Liberal Democrats and 11 MPs from other parties – have signed a parliamentary motion slamming BA for its "deplorable behaviour."

The move follows BA's decision to ban Nadia Eweida, a check-in worker, from wearing her Christian cross with her uniform.

The list of protestors includes Northern Ireland secretary Peter Hain, environment minister Ben Bradshaw, and the Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Eweida lost her appeal against BA over her right to wear the cross earlier this week.
