Hedging their bets: workers at a leading chain of casinos staged a second strike over pay last week.

Croupiers, cashiers, valets and restaurant workers at Grosvenor Casinos in London walked out for 24 hours on Thursday morning. The Transport and General Workers' Union said there had been no progress in resolving the row about a 3.5% pay offer.

The union held its first action on New Year's Eve, when it claimed about 350 workers went on strike. The company said it was just 73. The strike affected Grosvenor's four top London casinos: Victoria Casino on Edgware Road, Connoisseur in Kensington Gardens, London Park Tower in Knightsbridge, and Gloucester Sporting Club in Harrington Gardens.
