'Chocolate cake theft' from Mayday hospital is a matter of high importance

I was disturbed to read your news story headed 'Theft: Bye Chocolate' (Personnel Today, 30 January).

The trust is currently engaged in an investigation into the theft of significant quantities of food at Christmas (estimated to be in the region of £500) and not 'chocolate cake', as you reported.

The trivialisation of this investigation does no good to the morale of those staff who lost something they valued hugely. Neither does it do the HR profession much good to see a professional journal making light of this serious matter.
