Tory leader David Cameron commits a future Conservative government to cutting red tape to make recruitment easier

A Conservative government would make hiring staff easier every year it is in power, David Cameron claimed today.

The Opposition leader had promising words for employers in a speech centred on transport and taxation policy at the CBI annual conference.

"Our country needs big change," he said. "Business faces huge pressures today, and the government's role should be to make it easier, not harder, to do business.

"A government led by me would ask itself some pretty simple questions every year."

"These questions would include 'Are we making it easier to employ people?'," Cameron said.

"If not, we are not succeeding," he added.
