The economic crisis presents a great opportunity for mums to find flexible work, according to an expert.

Gillian Nissim, founder of flexible working website WorkingMums.co.uk, told Personnel Today there could be a boom in jobs to suit parents' needs.

"I think [the economic situation] presents a good opportunity for mums," she said. "Employers still have to run their businesses, and employing people flexibly can be a very effective way of getting the right people, possibly on reduced hours or away from the office.

"Instead of needing an office for 20 people, you might just need one for 10."

The UK Cities Monitor 2008report by estate agent Cushman & Wakefield last month showed that a quarter of companies expected to reduce space requirements to cut costs.
