NHS staff in Wales not protected against violence

Violence and aggression towards NHS workers in Wales have been tackled with a "lack of urgency", according to a cross-party group of Welsh Assembly Members (AMs).

While some AMs agreed some improvements were being made, there were specific concerns raised about the prosecution rates compared to the number of attacks, the BBC has reported.

The assembly government has now said that it will consider the report, and extra measures to protect staff had been announced.

Chairman Jonathan Morgan AM, said: "Systems are being developed for recording incidents and systems to develop staff training are being developed, but there is still a long way to go and in three years only limited progress has been made."

Members also raised concerns about a lack of ability to cope with the specific issues of a hospital among temporary staff.
