Well done to Shoz Rahman!

Yes - I always read the letters of PT and I have to acknowledge well thought responses. And one happened right this week............

In this case Shoz Rahman's letter is a well argued and insightful summary which a number of HR folk would do well to read (note Shoz's role).

Given some of the distorted rationale appearing in certain news stories and even more thought-less responses that appear in the PT letters (some of course with me the target) it is very refreshing.......I am not going to debate the points raised in the initial GMB's report or Shoz's response here (and indeed GMB's further rant in response). Merely to acknowledge the rationale without the hype. The managing of people industry is a better place for it.

Will all the Shoz Rahmans in HR please stand up, please stand up, please stand up!.........(as Eminem might say........)

Joelle Higgins:

Shoz Rahman makes a very valid point, and I recall a survey being published in 2006 (I think iw was by the EOC) which found that there a few reasons why there is a pay gap, and discrimination is one of many. It is about time someone stood up and challenged the misleading statements by the GMB that discrimination is the sole reason for the gap.

Jack Ackermann:

Looks like the GMB have shot themselves in the foot on this one. We all know that a pay gap exists, and that is what their original surveys show. And that's not news to anyone. But I just cannot see how the GMB reach the conclusion that they do. Their conclusion is seriously flawed, and they don't like to be challenged!
