The Apprentice
Well its the big day today as the new series of Apprentice starts with as ever, SURR-ALLUN sitting in the big boss seat, dishing out 'put downs' and more one liners than you'd find at any any Comedy Store event.......
Will the show grab the same attention as previous? Most probably.
It's becoming something of a British institution (the show that is and maybe so is S.A?). It's vaguely hypnotic in a 'Schadenfreude kind of way'.
We are just suckers for it. What collective bunch of psychos, wannabes, plastics, fawnings, idiot-savants and jokers have we got in store this time? It's a kind of modern day 'Its a knockout' (for those who can remember the anarchic show) complete with big heads and aimless wandering and failing utterly. Unmissable......
I see SURR-ALLUN has been attracting some critical comment about his views. I suspect that there are a decent majority who perhaps silently agree more than disagree with much of what he says. Bless him.........
On to the LSC
Well actually just to mention that I will blog about the demise of the LSC once I've got my head around the new order of things. I mean why make it complicated when you can really make it very complicated? Given the reference to the Carter & Carter debacle recently that I blogged about one may be just a little tiny bit suspicious of the coincidental timing.
An update on the related Carter & Carter episode. It appears that Newcastle College have come riding to the rescue. Public funds safeguarding public funds so to speak. Newcastle College's aim is to be a national provider. Not bad for a regional college getting local funds. Am I missing something here?
Finally FACEBOOK...
I blogged about Facebook quite some time ago so it's an interesting update. The latest, if you've not seen it is the Charity plea to ban prospective employers from using Facebook as a reference point.
This classic unintended consequence is obviously upsetting the Charities in terms of gossip or pictures used in more formative years should not be used against individuals when getting jobs. It apparently puts pressure on children to conform to adult norms.
Wow - scary or what - I mean the Charity comment.......
I found this perplexing since that I would have thought that anybody still using Facebook in 6 - 10 years time (if, of course, it still exists) would have been:
(a) so embarrassed that he/she would have erased all prior incriminating evidence, and
(b) if clever enough would have updated the content to be more representative to support a job application or else one would suggest a degree of stupidity (there's that word used again in association with Facebook)
The Charities have approached the CIPD (?!) who appear to have given some sound advice - see The Times article.
It's interesting to see what keeps some people up all night (and I don't mean those using Facebook!).
