Yes - an alarming headline but just how real is it?
I've been trying to find the odds given for the said event as it may be worth a fiver.........
You see as the economic 'miracle' of the last decade turns ever more into the economic 'mirage' the problem lies in the funding required to host them. Unfortunate timing suggests that it could possibly be the worst time in many years and we've got them..............
Using scenario analysis, one can see the fact that we may end up going to the IMF to get them finished.
Or it may be that they keep the economy going (at least in London)?
The latest estimates are surprise, surprise over ten times the original estimate (about £23bn and no doubt will continue to rise).
This at a time when an increasing black hole and public tax burden is growing.
I've no doubt that over the coming months/years we are increasingly going to revisit the 'Abilene paradox' (I've referred a number of times to this on various issues); i.e. everybody is going to ask why we did it when nobody wanted them (save a few zealots) and how we got there.
No doubt recriminations will fly and the Chinese protest thing will be a distant memory.
But feel free to guestimate the odds to my original question - send 'em in!!!!!!!!
