Hi There folks
This is Ross McGoss anchorman with HRNEWSNETWORK LIVE - that's HRNN to you and me....
Today...we have the lastest 5-second soundbites of serious analysis where we go deeper than the shallow surface and wider than a pencil in bringing you the news.
Let's go straight over to our business editor - Ed.
Hi Ed...
Hi Ross...
What do you have for us today?.....
Well - news just in that CEOs are looking at new reward packages - out go revenue growth and earnings per share and in comes a new employee legislation metric as this is apparently the fastest growing area of business. Many reward consultants have been busy coming up with the latest EL indicator linking this with the IT indicator...
Sorry Ed - you mean this is tied to technology?
No Ross - actually Industrial Tribunals - both metrics should see another step increase in CEO rewards tied to performance.........
I see Ed (confused) - which leads me on to the question of CVs.....
Yes Ross - this is an interesting story. There's been a lot recently on the fact that many CVs contain - shall we say false information. However, there are industry moves, backed by unions, to take the onus away from the individual cadidate and onto business - one source claiming that the next big thing is that organisations could end up in court facing negligence charges by not spotting all the errors and false information provided by potential candidates. Lawyers are already gearing up for what they see as a 'turkey shoot'. Candidates will be able to sue as they will claim citing discrimination where factually correct and truthful CVs are being selected instead.
Wow - Ed - that seems sensational.....and what's the story with parental leave and education?
Yes - in a more recent development some legislators hadn't recognised the unintended consequences of this. There's a case at the moment whereby a father who is studying for his 16+ exams/diploma is looking to take time off under the new rulings...
Sorry Ed - you mean from his education?
Yes - Ross. It's going to Human Rights arbitration. Senior sources say its going to be a close call....
What the decision on the outcome?
No - the baby's name.......
Oh - anyway Ed - what's this new term 'talent dumping'?
Yes - Ross 'talent dumping' is the new buzzword for redundancy. Despite HR's best efforts, organisations are still pretty indiscriminate in the way in which budget cuts are made. Thus all the efforts on acquisitioning and managing talent are now being superceded by 'talent dumping'.
We've heard a few stories recently of individual CEOs phoning round [in investment banking] asking if they can offload their talent due to poor organisational performance. Some commentators have raised the question of perhaps the CEO him/herself perhaps should also do the same thing? Expect this one to become big news over the coming months........
And, finally, Ed - news of a new type of blog network?
Ross - yes this one has a real twist. It's called 'face-off book' where people can really say what they hated about the person/boss they used to work with. There's rumours of a big $billion IPO in the offing.
But there's a catch - the problem being in that everybody can be both giver and receiver of 'hate-comment' which acts as a great limiter meaning that everybody is too afraid of posting a comment. However this last point isn't expected to put off the punters in the desperate race to lose more money in the credit crunch!
Wow again. Thanks Ed - tremendous stuff.
This is Ross McGoss with HRNN LIVE. Goodbye......
