The Dilemma

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Unlike some of my colleagues, I am not one for doing my best impression of Linford Christie by attempting to exit the building within seconds of the 5pm alarm.

This does, however, leave me open to potentially getting stuck at work well into the evening.

A prime example of this came today, when, at 5.10pm, my Managing Director asked me if I'd care to join him in interviewing a potential new manager.

Like many people my age, my mobile phone has become an essential part of my social life. Without it, I'm not sure how on earth I would arrange to meet people down the pub anymore.

However, there is no doubt that they have their disadvantages, and today one of them was all too apparent to me.

How to Make Friends and Influence People

My Wednesday was somewhat brightened by a classic example of someone throwing their ‘toys out of the pram’.

What made it even funnier was that it came from someone who is trying to get us to place more recruitment business with them!

Unneccessary Confusion

Confusion and, somewhat more incredibly, self-doubt reigned supreme in my mind today.

The last few weeks have seen recruitment, our so-called 'bread and butter', go through the roof, and as such things are absurdly hectic.

The Hotline

Have you ever had that feeling where you just want to launch your phone from the nearest window?!

However, for the last couple of days it has been the turn of recruitment companies to give me ‘phone rage’.

Short Notice

At 5pm, after a stressful day, there are 2 options that I am willing to embrace.

Firstly, I could quite happily, on occasion, run out of the door with the stampeding clock-watchers.

My preferred option is to put in a little bit of overtime and enjoy some peace and quiet, this often turning in to the most productive time of the day, even if just for 30 minutes.

Just Another Manic Monday

While his political views may divide opinion, there is little doubt that when Sir Bob Geldof uttered the immortal line, "I don't like Monday's", he was expressing a pretty universal view.

Today, this feels particularly true.

Ah, August. A time for heat waves and holidays.

It may well be the case that we need to escape the country to experience any decent Summer weather this year, but whatever the weather, it is still the height of the Summer season.

As if to emphasise this fact, I received some very pertinent post this morning.
