The Dilemma

August 29, 2007

Unlike some of my colleagues, I am not one for doing my best impression of Linford Christie by attempting to exit the building within seconds of the 5pm alarm.

This does, however, leave me open to potentially getting stuck at work well into the evening.

A prime example of this came today, when, at 5.10pm, my Managing Director asked me if I'd care to join him in interviewing a potential new manager.

On a normal day, I probably would have found myself sitting in an interview for well over an hour, before moodily dragging myself off home.

However, today had been so stressful during my normal working hours that I simply could not face another minute in the building.

Hopefully my Managing Director was impressed by my apparent assertiveness, but it's more than likely I'll be getting a frosty reception tomorrow morning...
