The Simple Life?

It has been said that in life, nothing is simple.

This statement is particularly true with regards to recruitment.

As mentioned in a previous blog, I have been dealing with a candidate who was requesting that all sorts be covered in his relocation allowance.

Having dealt with this, and actually allowed him to use the overall figure as he saw fit within Inland Revenue guidelines, I would have hoped that we could move forward with the job offer.

Sadly, the candidate then decided that he wanted a larger basic salary, and also set a deadline for our decision.

Having already offered him the best we could do, we decided not to smash our wage structure to accommodate someone whose attitude was becoming increasingly questionable, and so withdrew our offer.

So, back to the drawing board…
