I have had a troubling feeling for a few weeks now that I am somehow becoming my Assistant's secretary.

Moody responses to simple requests, not answering calls, and a general demeanour of ill-founded superiority to everyone in our office has led to this conclusion, and events today only further cemented this.

After asking her to deal with a problem this morning, she responded by saying that she was too busy and that I would have to do it, promptly followed by her leaving the office to go to a meeting I had no idea about.

I have no problem with helping people when they are snowed under, but the least I would expect is a request rather than being told to do something. Maybe I'd accept it from my boss, but certainly not someone who reports to me.

Stupidly I let this go, but when she tried something similar later in the afternoon I firmly stood my ground and asked her to make time to deal with my simple request.

All I got in return was a long face and an afternoon of sulking. We'll see how much longer I can cope with that for...
