I'm very troubled by events that have occurred today.
We are recruiting quite a lot of people at the moment. One person that attended an interview today used to work as a cleaner on-site here through the company that we used.
This would be irrelevant news, if it wasn't for the fact that his breath used to stink of alcohol every day.
He was always very helpful, but there was no doubt that he had a drink problem, even his employers thought as much.
We never acted on this previously as the contract changed and he left our site, but now he is back in our lives.
The 2 people that interviewed him were so impressed that they wanted to offer him a job, then they asked me if I knew him as he had admitted he knew me from before.
Obviously I had to tell them of our previous concerns, and this has somewhat thrown a spanner in the works for their plans...
I know I've done the right thing in making sure that the recruiting team are aware of this, but I can't help having a slight feeling of guilt. What if he's sorted himself out and we won't give him a chance because of before?
Oh the responsibility....
