The Muppet Show

You may have gathered from some of my previous postings that many of the people who work here are a constant annoyance to me, particularly some of the so-called management.

Today saw a fine example of just why that is the case.

An employee who has been with us for many years has decided to leave with only 1 weeks notice, as opposed to the month that he is contractually obliged to give us.

Obviously this has left his manager in something of a pickle. His reaction however was not to ask the employee to fulfil his contractual obligation (or even to bring the subject up with him), but to meekly accept the resignation and then come up to HR asking that we pore all our resources into recruiting a replacement by the end of the week.

We politely told him to get lost.

At this point, the employee in question made a timely entrance into our office to hand his notice in to us.

It’s fair to say that we were not quite so meek in our response to him, especially after his utterly arrogant pronouncements that he was well aware what he was obliged to do, but that he doesn’t need to bother with such formalities.

What a fine way to end several years’ service.

To quote my mother, I could have bashed their heads together.
