I had what could turn out to be a very ‘profitable’ meeting regarding training today.
The meeting was with someone I can only describe as a ‘Guru of Funded Training’. Perhaps he may be related to the Guru?
Anyway, I digress. With a somewhat tight training budget here, we are always on the lookout for ‘something for nothing’, and our eyes have certainly been opened today.
Whilst the ‘Train to Gain’ initiative has been very well publicised, others have not.
It seems if you’re willing to use a few tricks of the trade, there is almost limitless funding to tap into.
Always willing to embrace new ideas, I will certainly be using my new found tips, tricks and contacts to get us as much funded training as possible.
I can sense a pat on the back from the Finance Director coming my way…
Beware.....the government does indeed support some training financially and all companies should take advantage of that support where it can. However nothing in life and in business is 'free'. Making decisions about training based on 'cost' and 'profit' only considering the up front contributions may end up with you losing site of what you were trying to do in the first place.......as long as you don't just chase the government pound it can be good. make sure you take a balanced view before you take too much for granted.
