I have found myself in a situation that I do not feel at all comfortable with today.
One of my colleague’s, with whom I get on very well, has blatantly ignored company rules to her benefit, and I’m not sure what to do about it.
As much as I like her, I don’t think the behaviour she has displayed today is anything out of the ordinary for her, which makes me feel even more uncomfortable.
This morning she had to go out for a Doctor’s appointment, which given her absence record over the last few months should be unpaid for however long she was out for.
Unfortunately for me and possibly for her, I did not realise that she was off site, and was trying to track her down as according to the Clocking system she was on-site.
It was only when our manager returned from a meeting that he made me aware where she was.
She knows the rules better than anyone else, as she is in charge of the Payroll here. This means that sadly she has obviously decided to not bother clocking out so that she gets paid for her absence.
It’s a fairly insignificant matter on the surface, with it only affecting an hours pay, but I can’t stand it when someone so blatantly takes advantage of the trust placed in them.
I’m by no means a saint, but this is tantamount to theft, no matter how petty.
