Why you shouldn't rely on Sat-Nav...

A few weeks ago we established a weekly management training session for a group of 10 of our managers.

These sessions have been running very well for the past 4 weeks, and I expected today to be no different.

In the end, things turned out fine, but that seemed unlikely at 9.05 this morning...

Having been due to start at 9, I was somewhat bemused that the trainer was no where to be seen as the group started to arrive in our training room.

Just as I was about to phone the head office of the training provider to see if they had any information, I got a somewhat panicky call from the trainer.

Despite driving the same route to our site for the last 4 weeks from her home, she was lost. Why? Because she completely relied on her Sat-Nav for directions, and that had suddenly stopped working.

Whatever did we do before the advent of such technology? How did people ever find their destinations?

Thanks to my directions, she was able to find her way quickly and no real harm was done, other than causing me to dwell on what on earth has happened to society.

Perhaps that was an over-reaction on my part, but I can be quite a deep thinker...
