In HR it is fair to say that we have more than our fair share of strange, and sometimes difficult conversations with employees.
A recent ‘classic’ involved a woman going in to far too much detail about her experiences going through ‘the change’.
Today, however, I had what must go down as my strangest conversation so far.
Our night security guard phoned up to urgently discuss a ‘disturbing matter’.
On his patrols every night, he believes that he is being followed by a car, and has become worried by this.
He is utterly convinced that it is the police, the government, or a rival security firm out to get him.
I did my best to assure him that I’m sure this is not the case, but in the end had no option other than to say he should call the police if he is seriously concerned for his safety.
As far as I am concerned, the lonely nights have possibly got to him mentally. I’m almost waiting for him to claim aliens have abducted him…
