Health and Safety Violations: Not to be taken lightly

April 17, 2008

This week we have been undergoing a health and safety audit.

Everything has been going very well, though it could have been a different matter thanks to one of our employees.

Upon arriving almost late for work, the employee in question found it impossible to find a space in our car park.

Instead of finding a sensible place off site to park, they decided to effectively abandon their car in the car park.

Unfortunately, the car was left in a position which completely blocked access to most of our building for any emergency services.

Obviously this is a far from ideal situation at any time, let alone during the middle of a Health & Safety audit. Thankfully it was spotted by one of our employees and we got the car moved before an auditor noticed.

However, we considered that the offence was so serious that we hauled the offender in to a disciplinary meeting today and gave them a warning.

Maybe they might learn to park properly now...
