As a generalist in the weird and wonderful world of HR, there are many skills that I know are required of me.
Some which I thought might be very important, such as empathy and people skills, have turned out to be of very little importance in an area which has very little time for dealing with the everyday problems of our workforce.
However, there are some skills required to work in HR that I would never have been aware of until I started working in the area.
One such skill seems to be editing photographs.
As a result of some recent managerial changes, I was required to make a fair few changes to the photographic organisation structure that is proudly on display in reception.
I have subsequently spent the whole afternoon wrestling with both Photoshop and PowerPoint in an attempt to change this.
Just as I dared to think I had everything figured out, something would happen to send me back to square 1.
As a result, it's fair to say that the air inside our office has been as blue as the sky outside today...
