Hard Times Ahead? The 'Credit Crunch' leads to a recruitment freeze

June 23, 2008

Despite a record year in terms of financial performance, all is not well here.

As with many companies, the global credit crunch is starting to have an effect.

As of today, we've been 'unofficially' informed that no recruitment will be sanctioned for the foreseeable future, as a downturn in sales is underway.
This is obviously worrying, but it's not the first time I've experienced times like this here, and I believe we're well equipped to deal with the potential problems of the next few months and years.

Plus, if all else fails I have a friend who runs a debt collection agency. That's bound to be a growth industry so perhaps he'll need some help on the HR side...

Embi:

It reminds me of when I graduated in the recession of the early 1990s and was urged to get into insolvency as it was a "growing business".

And the person telling me this was serious.
