Guru was saddened this morning to read of the death of comedian Bernard Manning.
Manning was considered by some to be offensive, sexist and racist; but by others to be a necessary antidote to political correctness (you could argue that Manning is the opposite of human resources personified).
Here's a sample of his work:
A blind man goes into John Lewis's.An assistant spots him standing in the middle of the ground floor swinging his guide dog around by its lead above his head.
The assistant says: 'Can I help you sir?'
The blind man replies: 'No thanks. Just looking round.'
And another:
A guy walks into a shop and says: 'I'd like to buy a wasp.'The shopkeeper replies: 'A wasp!? But we don't sell wasps.'
And the guy says: 'Why not? You've got one in the window!'
You have to admit - they're a bit better than the top 5 HR jokes Guru published a couple of weeks ago!

I too was saddened by Bernard Manning's death. Was he racist? I don't think so. He took the mickey out of everyone regardless of colour, race, religion etc.,
What makes me mad are the people who pay to see comedians like Bernard Manning, or Chubby Brown and then complain. If you know you are likely to be offended then don't go.

The Old Witch in the Corner is right. Manning was non-discriminatory in his discrimination.
Thus he was able to get away with his rudeness. Sadly others have failed in their attempts to mimic him, not least Sir Trevor McDonald!
