There is only one thing Guru hates more than being told what not to wear, and that’s being told what not to wear by two ugly women with the combined fashion sense of a blind tramp talking to a German dog. Suffice it to say, then, that he is no fan of Trinny and Susannah.
However, he was alerted to a recent episode of Undress The Nation by none other than that beacon of educational rigour, sector skills council Skillsmart Retail.
Apparently ITV's detestable duo revealed a problem common to many women that Skillsmart Retail has the solution to – inconsistent bra sizes.
It seems that the problem is so, um, large, that students can now take a Skillsmart Retail-endorsed NVQ module in bra-fitting as part of their course in retail skills. Guru has heard of making education more appealing to young people but what next? A diploma in downing a yard of ale? A degree in nightclubbing? Post-graduate studies in copping off with Freshers?
Unsurprisingly, there has been an, ahem, swell of interest in the module. Beverley Paddey, Skillsmart Retail’s head of standards and qualifications, said: “As far as we are aware, take up has been better than expected.”
Well, Guru had never considered a career in retail but suddenly his interest has, well, peaked. And he was far from put off when told the course can be quite a handful...
