Wales, a country perhaps better known for hobbies involving sheep than innovative business practice, has produced a revolutionary idea that could shake the employment world.
Paul ‘daffodils-and-leeks’ Thomas, a senior lecturer at the University of Glamorgan, wants a world without line managers – a glorious planet where staff look after themselves.
Thomas believes managers hold companies back, and that if they were scrapped, every member of staff would take responsibility for running the firm.
Guru imagines they would do anything but.
Can you imagine Vicky and Shaz updating their own sales results and awarding their bonuses accordingly? Does an image pop readily into your mind of Bazza and Lee ensuring all anti-discrimination law is complied with during the weekly marketing meeting? HR’s job would be more of a nightmare than it already is.
No, Guru has a far better idea than sacking the managers – get rid of the staff.
Just think, no-one to cause trouble, nobody phoning in sick, a lack of anyone touching anyone else up or complaining about being touched up. No performance appraisals to carry out, and of course a blissful absence of recruitment and retention policy, since there is no need for staff.
Guru is off to the University of Glamorgan to celebrate with a bottle of champers and his finest sheepskin coat...

Didnt they already try this in Wales with the Steel industry and the mining industry?? How's that working??
