Credit crunch - condoms hold solution

October 7, 2008

Those Masai tribesmen are very well respected in UK business circles these days, and Guru wonders whether they just might have the solution to the credit crunch.

With the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development warning that up to half a million jobs could go in the next year or so, Yours Truly thinks the answer lies in Kenya.

The main problem here is a shortage of jobs, fuel and food for a growing population - and in Africa, some Masai herdsman have found a novel and easily transportable solution to a drought for their goats.

They have made makeshift condoms and tied them on to stop the goats mating. This keeps the population down and allows what little water there is to go further.

Perhaps the HR profession should do the same with employees - the less mating, the fewer people there will be to be unemployed/pushing up gas bills/queueing for food at the supermarket.

Obviously with the Christmas party season fast approaching, HR professionals could not have a better time to force contraception on their staff. Allowing Tracey from sales to meet up with an unsheathed Jim from marketing has 12 months' maternity pay, two years of childcare vouchers and demands for a data entry job when the nipper hits 16 written all over - ahem - it.
