Ah a new year. All those old problems put behind us, a brand new start to embrace.
Or maybe not.
A rather chill wind of reality swept across the UK yesterday, blowing aside all too easily that cosy, sleepy Christmas break. Suddenly Guru was back on the streets at 7am, in minus temperatures, reading newspapers filled with doom and gloom about job prospects. It was all rather early December 2008.
Guru came to love his new life, and has found the harsh, freezing reality of this week rather hard to take. And all Yours Truly was doing was popping down the bakery because Mrs Guru wasn't persuadable to get his breakfast croissants for him.
However, Guru has sympathy with the nation's workforce this week, and suggests a possible remedy, both for the short and long-term problems.
The answer is to book a summer holiday. Only by once again casting logic, newspapers and bank statements aside and heading for an extended horizontal break from reality can Britian cope with the credit crunch. In giving us all something to look forward to, this travel agent activity will surely boost morale across the nation, increasing productivity and dragging us out of the economic downturn that engulfs us.
Go forth disciples, your country needs you to google search cheap holidays in Spain.
