Last week's publication of Stonewall's Top 100 Employers for gay people got Guru thinking about where the best places to work for straight men would be.
Stonewall ranked employers according to "implementation of effective equality policies to practical demonstration of good practice in recruitment and mentoring and how they engage with lesbian and gay staff, customers and service users".
Guru's list - while in no particular order - ranks workplaces that red-blooded, beer swilling, rootin' tootin', girl-loving guys want to work. Disciples are free to add their own suggestions to the list by commenting below.
- Hooters
- Spearmint Rhino
- Stella Artois
- Nintendo
- Zoo magazine
- Walkers Crisps
- Virgin Atlantic - following the TV ad currently airing
- Tourism Queensland - for the so-called 'Best Job in the World' on the Great Barrier Reef
Any other suggestions?
UPDATE: Disciple Sara has emailed with the following comments.
Dear Guru
Your list only goes to reinforce the 'stereotypical male' that drives us women to the brink... perhaps you now need to produce a list of 'Top 10 Places for Women to Get Therapy After Working 8 Hours a Day With Straight Men'. I've started you off below:
- Primark
- Ann Summers
- Krispy Kreme
- The MAC counter in House of Fraser
- The nearest Vodka Revolution bar...

I think heterosexual men could probably cope with any job which does not require a degree of creativity or the ability to dress well.

That's weird, a gay man has posted a comment that was bitchily sarcastic and put down straight men.

While I am sure this list is based on rigorous testing of where straight 'guys' want to work, I think you'll find a large proportion of LGB men and women and straight women would like to work at Nintendo, Virgin Atlantic and Walkers Crisps, just as plenty of straight men wouldn't want to work in Spearmint Rhino. I'm also puzzled by what colour you think LGB people's blood is and why you think they don't like drinking beer and being, um, 'rootin-tootin' whatever that is...? Have you ever learnt to think outside of crude and basic stereotypes?!

Theres a gay guy in the office who's fat, hairy and dresses like a twat - He must be lying to himself and is yet to come out of the closet as a straight man!!
