Wedding crashers

January 15, 2009

Never one to miss out on a free booze-up, slap up meal and opportunity to exhibit his particular brand of drunken dad dancing, Guru is thinking of responding to an advert he came across for wedding guests.

Yes, an anonymous bride-to-be has reportedly placed an ad on website Gumtree.com calling for 30 people to sit on her side of the church.

Apparently, few of her loved ones are able to make the trip from her home town in the Ukraine to London for her big day, so she is hoping for 'decent' guests to avoid empty seats.

In return for their services, she is said to be offering all volunteers a free meal at the reception after the wedding. In these lean times, Guru reckons it's a great deal.

Perhaps HR professionals looking for ways to cut costs during the economic downturn could advertise for staff willing to work for free lunches. "Wanted - general assistant to do a few hours photocopying and faxing in return for a watery lasagne in the staff canteen. Tramps need not apply."

On second thoughts, the wedding invite is probably more attractive.
