HazelC:

Genius - the ex-employee certainly isn't! How on earth people don't realise what they're doing when they are publishing any information to any website (particularly social networking sites) is beyond me!

Anyone else checked someone's facebook profile before inviting for an interview? I had a classic once, a chap who reckoned he was hard-working, diligent, wanted to learn more about management accounting etc.

His (publicly viewable) facebook profile was one long list of posts about how he hated his job, hated accounting and all the clever methods he'd created to look busy whilst actually doing nothing.
