In the spirit of the day, Guru will be having his morning tea break, full hour for lunch, mid-afternoon tea break and be leaving the office promptly at 5.00pm. He encourages disciples to do the same, especially as it's a Friday.
Helpfully, the TUC has produced a Tetris-style computer game to help workers waste a few minutes while they are waiting to leave the office on time.
Here's to an end to the long-hours culture and many more 35-hour working weeks!

“Working your proper hours on 26th Feb is a timely reminder that the psychological contract is a powerful thing in the workplace.
“Every employer has a psychological contract with their people. It essentially hinges on both parties meeting the unwritten expectations of each other in a fair and reasonable way. If an employer breaks that contract – for example, by asking employees to work excessive overtime without recognition or recompense – employees will question their relationship with the organisation.
“Employers need to recognise the work their people often put in effort and time over and above the call of duty. Many may have been willing to put in the extra hours in the depths of the downturn, just happy to have a job to keep hold of. However, as the employment market picks up again and people have more options they employers need to consider what action is needed to redress any imbalance.
“Overtime can be a serious issue unless it’s managed properly. Most employers and employees have reasonable expectations of what is acceptable – when those expectations are not met, both sides invariably suffer.”
