Halfords bag tester gets to sleep on the job

April 14, 2010

If you've ever been accused of sleeping on the job - then this new role could be for you.

Halfords is advertising for a sleeping bag tester, specifying "someone interested in sleep". The role will involve the successful applicant trying out the bags in preparation for the forthcoming festival season.

The tester will have to sleep under canvas for five days and then report back to store staff on the benefits of the various bags. The pay is £10 an hour with a minimum of £600 for the week's snoozing. Not bad for basically lying around doing nothing.

A Halfords spokesman insisted: "This is a real job. It has to be completed soon so we can pass the results onto our customers ahead of spring and summer when demand is traditionally very high for our range of camping equipment."

Guru predicts there will be no shortage of candidates for the role, particularly among our yoof. He would hate to be the HR person sitting in on those interviews
