Election cow economics

May 4, 2010

Disciple Phil emails with an update to Guru's cow economics post last year.

You may remember this is all about explaining various economic models through the medium of cows. Phil has come up with some additions to the list based on the current political situation. Well observed, I'm sure you'd agree.

NEW LABOUR ECONOMICS You have two cows. You try to convince people that you are the only person who can milk the cows effectively whilst denying that anyone who disagrees with you is bigoted.

CONSERVATISM You have two cows. You try to convince the public that they should be involved in rearing, tending and milking the cows and in pasteurising, bottling and marketing the milk themselves.

LIBERAL DEMOCRACY You have two cows. You try to convince the public that these two 'old cows' have been producing the same old disappointing milk for 65 years and that it's time to produce something different. You try to get your cows to produce orange juice instead.
