An Australian HR company has been fined for breaching spam regulations in Australia after sending marketing emails advertising their HR software to people without their consent (ACMA warns Aussie HR firm for spam infringement).

The ruling makes Guru wonder whether spam laws couldn’t be extended to protect him from the increasing amount of nonsense that he hears from the mouths of his colleagues. The next time the latest HR recruit, straight out of university clutching their dictionary of business nonsense, explains to Guru what should be done going forward - vis-à-vis achieving positive momentum, as regards efficiency savings - Guru is going to make a citizen’s arrest.

About Guru

Guru is Personnel Today's notorious HR commentator. He's been working in HR for far too long and observes every passing management fad with a mixture of anger and amusement. His blog is the one thing saving his long-suffering wife, Mrs Guru, from having to endure too much of his ranting about the big HR stories of the day.
