I became news editor of Personnel Today in May 2008, after 18 months as deputy news editor.
As well as contributing regular news stories for the magazine and website, and occasional features and analysis pieces, I am responsible for the news output both online and in the weekly issue of Personnel Today.
Since working at Personnel Today, I have walked through the front door of Number 10 Downing Street, had a run in with the law at the CIPD Annual Conference in Harrogate and sparked a national media frenzy over firms using lie detectors to catch out staff pulling sickies.
My main beats on the magazine are central government, Brussels, the armed forces, the Olympics, utilities, manufacturing and IT.
My stint at Personnel Today represents my first ‘proper’ job since I returned from a year’s travelling, living in Australia for six months and also visiting South East Asia and South America. Prior to that, I worked for two years on the glamorous Materials Recycling Week.
I am a big fan of both Luton Town FC and the band Oasis, which means my life has pretty much been going downhill since 1994.
