John Charlton is editor of Employers' Law and Training & Coaching Today, monthly sister titles to Personnel Today. He is also legal editor of Personnel Today.
He has 25 years’ experience in business journalism, much of it in the IT sector where he has edited many journals. John’s areas of interest cover a wide range of training, learning and development, coaching topics and issues. These include:

- Career issues for training and L&D managers
- Selection processes for coaches
- Training case studies
- Technology and training
- Outsourcing training and L&D provision
John is also editorial training manager at Reed Business Information, the parent company of Personnel Today. He does work for the Periodical Training Council, the magazine industry training body, including the vetting of university journalism courses.
Outside work he provides a taxi service to three sons and rants about the state of the nation. He is keen on sport and, as a natural-born Mackem, has supported Sunderland AFC through thin since boyhood.
