We have started our info & consultation process, but need to get it more formalised to benefit from 'pre-existing arrangement' status when the law changes. I am looking for ideas on what needs to be included in the written agreement /constitution of the group and the practicalities of how reps show their agreement. One concern - once the reps have signified their agreement to the pre-existing arrangements, can they withdraw that agreement at will?
Any assistance appreciated.

For the reps to change a 'pre-existing arrangement' 40% of the employees would have to be in agreement. However I would advise having the reps 'onside' otheriwse it will be a complete waste of time form all sides.

There are a number of websites with good information:-

http://www.acas.org.uk/services/ic.html - including online training
http://www.cipd.co.uk/subjects/empreltns/consulatn/infoconsultguid.htm
http://www.dti.gov.uk/er/consultation/proposal.htm - which has free master classes running at the moment
http://www.partnership-at-work.com/

Hope this has helped

I attended an ACAS Meeting on this very subject last week and they have said that they are able to visit you at work and discuss/help you with this. Prior to March it is free of charge. All you need to do is to contact your nearest ACAS office.
