We have just introduced is a new internal communications policy. Part of this includes rebranding and this will impact heavily on staff. As a public sector Agency we are constrained by audit so I'm looking for any suggestions to create better staff cohesion, and more importantly - a pride in being part of the Agency without the need for Apple-esque outlay. Also, we want it to appeal to staff without them being disillusioned that it's a waste of money (especially after we have just had industrial action re pay). ALL help appreciated... Thanks |

When you say rebranding, is this for the whole organisation. Or do you actually mean the shape and size of the internal communications department. Will the rebranding be visible to those outside the Agency. To appeal to the staff start by asking them to be involved - focus groups etc. That way those that take part gain ownership by participation in the design and delivery. Those involved can act as local champions to support the plan. Ensure that the staff can see that the plan has been bought into and is fully supported from the top down. It will take time to comunicate the reasons , and only communicate when there is worthwhile information to give out. |

Re-branding is a great opportunity for sharing your vision and making real cultural change. What do you now stand for? Where are you going to? How are you going to get there? Does the re-brand give you extra additional resources of a parent company, does this give you and your staff particular strengths. Sometimes a change of uniform, or re-induction and small amount of training in the culture and vision can add up to a lot in terms of cohesion and employee performance. I am thinking of Safeway/Morrisons etc! |

You have an opportunity to build a new image and direction etc. For this to be successful you must involve/engage your staff/workforce. You really need to work with them and communicate effectively. Don't try to rush it especially if this is a significant rebrand matter. Also remember you may not succeed in getting all persons on board or you may even find that one/two fall by the way side--plan how you will deal with this issue. |
