+++ Re: Staff Attitude Survey Liam Dolan 19/05/2006 09:40
I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to comment on Attitude Surveys.

Whilst soliciting feedback is a powerful exercise for any company- it is vital that the questions asked are appropriate.

Research backed by the likes of Harvard Business School, shows that asking the right questions AND THEN ACTING ON THE FEEDBACK can impact business profitability.

The questions should be around leadership, communication, teamwork, value, culture, company strategy etc. Do not include things like pay, benefits and anything job specific.

I'll happily provide examples of the "best" questions to ask, or check through the questions you are asking- all for free...

Hi Liam

I would also like to take you up on the offer of examples of 'best' questions to ask in a staff attitude survey. I work for a small manufacturing company where labour overheads are kept to a minimum and we must look to other ways to try and achieve a motivated workforce. Therefore this is an important area for my business.

My email is sharon@wyretech.co.uk

Many thanks

+++ Re: Staff Attitude Survey Humphrey Klinkenberg 07/12/2005 14:37
Hi Nicola

I have a questionnaire but this includes the HSE stress management questions. Killing two birds with one stone maybe? I would be happy to let you have a copy.

You might wish to consider the problem of employees not responding to internally assessed questionnaires. The above questionnaire was managed externally and a good response was achieved. Previous internally assessed questionnaires generated insufficient returns to be considered representative.

Hope this was useful - If you want a copy of the questionnaire my personal email is humphrey@klinkenberg.org.uk.

++++++ Re: Staff Attitude Survey Engagement & satisfaction Mike Morrison 15/06/2008 13:42

As others have said, undertaking the survey is only a small part of the survey process.  If we really want to measure satisfaction or attitude then we need to engage with staff and employees throughout the whole process. This includes deciding if the survey will look at only one part of the organisation or at everyone. How the results will be shared - this is critical - and most importantly how any company based responses to the outputs and actions will be communicated to staff.

Many staff and employees attitude and engagement surveys fail because ironically managers fail to engage people in the process.

For many organizations staff and employee surveys are cost prohibitive.

We are in the process of starting to test a software implementation of an employee engagement survey that we have been using for some time - the EESS.

If you would like to be involved in the testing (for free) please contact me.
