We are currently reviewing our Long Term Sick Process/Policy and as a part of this review we are investigating different Occupational Health provisions. We are a Customer Contact Centre with c.9,500 employees and currently employ a telephone based Occupational Health service which we are not sure fulfils our requirements. Does anyone have any suggestions as to good companies to use and what they believe is the best way to approach Occupational Health in a private sector Contact Centre environment

I agree that telephone based occupational health advice has its limits, in particular for or organisation of your size where the occupational health issues are likely to be complex and require more in depth management.

As in any industry occupational health providers differ in terms of range of services, quality and price. We use Nexus Healthcare who until now have been very reliable and professional and very helpful in allowing us to manage issues such as sickness absence and other health related employee issues. Their website is www.nexushealthcare.co.uk.

I also think that along with a good Occ Health provider you should have a host of other schemes in place as well.  For example EAP, Group income Protection and some form of absence tracker to highlight any potential long term absences to you, which you can then try and implement some form of Rehabilitation and stop the LTA from happening.

Feel free to contact me martinedwards@lebc-group.com if you would like any further info.
