Does anyone have a procedure for investigating accusations of discrimination and/or harassment that they would be willing to share with me?

I've been asked to put together an internal procedure for investigating accusations of discrimination from customers against members of staff. I would be very grateful for any best practice examples.

Many thanks

i would advise that it mirrors your dignity at work policy which should be sufficiently flexible to cater for the wide range of complaints which are possible

Hi Kelly

Do you have a bullying and Harrasment policy? I would advise that you link this in with that. We have recently had a few cases with regards to race discrimination and didnt really have a 'race discrimination procedure or policy'. We dealt with the complaint under the bullying and harrasment policy and once invesitgation was complete under the company's diciplionary procedure.

As a result of the complaints, we have issued all staff a 'dignity at work' memo, advising that discrimination/bullying/harrasment/office bunter will not be tolerated and dealt with under the company's disciplianry procedure.

You can find plenty of stuff on the internet i.e acas, dti, CIPD.

Hope this helps!

Hi Kelly

I have written an investigation process, which I have implemented at several companies I have worked for.  If you would like me to forward a copy of this to you, please contact me.

Regards

Kim
