Hi, I am currently studying the Leadership and Management part of the PDS. I am embarking on my assignment on communication and was looking for some comments relating to this from other companies. I have sent out surveys but havnt had many replies...

I would be really grateful if anyone is able to comment on the following..

  • Do your staff feel that communication is good quality in your Company?
  • Do you regularly survey your staff on communication from their Managers?
  • Do your Managers feel that good communication adds value to the Business?
  • What are the mainly used methods of communication?

Many Thanks for any responses and I will reciprocate if needed..

Sam

Hi Sam,

I can answer as an employee (if I answer as a manager I would be very positive naturally!).

1. No

2. No

3. Yes in theory, but few practice even basic communication - important policy and procedural decisions are often only communicated within the teams directly affected, not to all teams in the chain that are affected - including the customer.  This leads to an effective lengthening of true implementation in that by the time the policy is understood by all affected parties it can be over six months after the organisation records the policy change as 'implemented'.

4. Web, e-mail, WOM Non-structured - in my organisation this is 'Rumour', Posters/Memos.
