I would appreciate if anyone had a template of in-house guidelines in relation to employment of overseas staff. I have been asked to draft a guidance note for managers and applicants regards to employment of overseas staff (basicall do's and don'ts and the legal implication on the organisation).

welcome any feedback/ideas

Are you looking to recruit or transfer staff from outside of the EU (excluding Romania and Bulgaria)?

its basically a simple fact sheet regards to what needs to be adhered to when checking UK status of overseas applicants i.e. passport stamps, letters from Home Office etc
