I would never class anyone in the scrap heap, I mearly think and I have seen this alot lately that HR Discriminate, some employers want men some want women, some want preferred sector experience some want this that and the other... As HR Managers/Advisors/Officers we all recruit, promote good employee relations, conduct discilines and grievances so how cant these be transfered, we you go to uni to completed your CIPD it can be placed in any sector.............. HR Dept's need to get their acts together!!!

Not sure if they are the worst, just as bad as anywhere else. I got asked questions about my age yesterday and it was made clear that one of the interviewers an HR Director thought nothing of the Age Discrimination legislation. What hope is there for us ever been taken seriously

I think that unless HR puts its own house in order then as a profession it will never be taken seriously.  I am constantly being discriminated against and treated like dirt not only by managers but by my peers working in my department.  I feel I have spent nearly 30 years working in HR/Personnel an area which I thoroughly enjoy and whenever I apply for jobs I think that they feel that none fo my skills are transferrable either that or like someone else has already said they think I'm too old, but wont say it!!!!!!  I think it's time HR professionals made a stand and started questioning decisions, because I feel sometimes we are our own worse emeny because we don't challenge employers, agencies or managers.
