I am a equality and diversity specialist who has worked on E&D issues with employers in the private/public sector. All the issues being raised and discussed under the Diversity & equal opportunities thread are pertinent and need to approached with carefully. Policies are unlikely to succeed and will be less effective if they implemented in a piecemeal fashion. They need to be thought through and must have top level commitment/support if they are to succeed.
