Hi My organisation (a charity) has a consultation forum for staff made up of nominated and elected representatives. They meet 3 times a year to feed back on draft HR policies, organisational changes, etc. We cover the whole of the UK and there are around 20 people on the Forum so the logistics and cost of getting everyone together more often than this is not practical. I'm currently doing a project measuring the effectiveness of the forum, and would like to explore some more creative ways of getting the Forum's input in a more timely, frequent way. Does anyone have any experience of doing something like this? Any suggestions/possible pitfalls? Thanks!

Hi Laura, In post role we also have a consultative committee which is similar to what you have. However we only had 5 members covering 170 staff. They met every other month, and called extra meetings if needed, i.e. if redundancies etc were to be looked at. A chairman was nominated each 6 months so that the responsibility did not fall on one person. With such a large number of people in the forum it would make it very difficult so you might like to consider reducing the number (ACAS website has some good guidance and they also used to offer training for committee members). One way of getting them together, if not physically is by having a tele conference?? Just a suggestion. Hope this helps a little. Mandy
